Seattle Pilates Ball Workout
Incorporating a stability ball into your Pilates workout can help you strengthen your core muscles. When you work on a stable surface, such as on the floor, your core muscles do not need to balance your body. When a portion of your Pilates workout takes place on a stability ball, however, you must utilize your core muscles to maintain your balance while on the ball.
Simply sitting on a stability ball actually requires that you use your abdominal muscles, including the side abdominal muscles. If you were to place more weight on one side of the ball than the other, you would lose your balance. To stay on the ball and regain your balance, you must shift your weight to the other side, forcing you to focus.
